Effective Leadership And My Current Leadership Skills

Introduction There are many definitions of the word leadership, but I am particularly taken by the way the business dictionary defines leadership. It defines it as such: an activity of leading a group of people or an organization or ability to do this and involves establishing a clear vision, sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly, providing the information, knowledge, and methods to realize that vision and coordinating and balancing the conflicting interest of all members and stakeholders (Business Dictionary, n.d.). This definition solidifies what is expected of a leader and what should be expected of said person to be effective when performing his or her duties in a leadership role. For the purpose of this paper, I will be looking at what effective leadership means to me which I would use to evaluate my current leadership skills. After analyzing my current skills against this model, I will create an action plan to address any deficiencies identified. This will be followed by redefining what leadership is based on the research and beliefs presented in this report. What Effective Leadership Means to Me?
